With the Article Master Data Export (and subsequent Import), article master data can be exported and—after revisions, similar to a bulk process—imported again as an update.
Using the export function without restrictions, the entire article master data set can be exported as a CSV file in either UTF-8 or Windows encoding. A full export is not recommended for very large item catalogs (> 100k SKUs).
Limited exports can be executed using the selection fields shown in the image below (they can also be combined/linked).
After starting the export, it runs in the background of the app. As soon as the export is finished, a popup appears allowing you to save the export locally. In addition, every export is stored in Nekom’s file archive (Reporting/Monitor/File Explorer) and can also be downloaded from there and saved locally.
Importing article master data with the Nekom app is performed in the reverse order of a previous export. Alternatively, an import template can be downloaded, filled with data, and then imported.
Please upload the file to be imported using the “Upload file” button, and set the correct file encoding (UTF-8 or Windows) to avoid issues when importing special characters (e.g., umlauts).
For “Import template”, select either nothing or “DefaultNewimporter”. Once selected, a blue button appears to download the (empty) standard import CSV template.
Note: If products already exist in your system, we recommend running an article export first and then using that export as a template for further imports. In this case, no specific template needs to be selected when importing.
Only enable the “Create variant types” toggle if you really want to create new variant types via import. If the toggle remains disabled, Nekom checks whether the reported variant types (exact spelling) exist and returns an error as soon as a variant type cannot be found. This helps prevent duplicates caused by different spellings. Example: The existing type is “Größe” but the import file contains “Groesse”. The duplicate will be prevented; you can adjust the type back to “Größe” in the import file and the next import will run successfully.
The final toggle “Update articles” determines the overall import behavior. If the toggle is disabled, the import creates only new articles; existing articles contained in the import file are ignored. If the toggle is enabled, new articles are created and existing articles are updated.
When you click the active “Import” button at the end, the file and its data are validated. If there are no errors, the articles are imported or updated in the background.
